Animal Poems of the Iguazu: Every day is Earth Day
Every April the world celebrates Earth Day, and in the spirit of raising awareness of our global environment we're highlighting Animal Poems of the Iguazú. Argentina's Iguazú rainforest is one of the natural wonders of the world and contains some of the greatest biological diversity on the planet, but many of its species are in serious danger. These poems remind us that all living beings on this planet are connected, and that we all can take action for a greener world. In fact, read on for five easy tips for taking eco-friendly action in your classroom.
It's easy to be green in your classroom and at your school. Use these five easy tips to get your students excited about helping the environment. If you have any additional green ideas that you've brought to life in your classroom, let us know!
1. Create a recycling club for students. Collect recyclable materials from your neighboring classrooms on a weekly or daily basis.
2. Get crafty: Instead of throwing out paper that's been written or drawn on one side, save the pages and use the blank side to create a mini-notepad.
3. Plan a class field trip to help clean up a local park or beach.
4. Organize a "walking carpool". Rather than using a car, parents can walk a group of neighborhood kids to school and back home each day. It's not only good for Mother Earth, it's good for young bodies, too.
5. Make a school compost station in an outdoor garden for organic waste like fresh food scraps.
We hope these tips inspire you to start working towards a greener world.
