A special birthday wish in honor of CBP!
Some people never cease to amaze us. Janine Macbeth, a former staff member and friend of Children's Book Press, has just started a fundraising campaign on Facebook to help raise funds for our organization. Janine is turning 30 next month, and instead of asking for presents, she's asking her friends to make a contribution to Children's Book Press. (Read Janine's birthday wish below.)
Janine, your generosity inspires us! Warmest thanks from everyone at CBP, and we wish you a happy birthday.

I hope this note finds you well!
Children's Book Press is a wonderful and responsible organization with integrity and a true commitment to a more equitable children's literature landscape. This commitment is on all levels, from providing positive self reflections of young underrepresented readers; to getting books into the hands of children across the country and the world; to committing to underrepresented authors and artists, and providing a venue for them to represent their own communities and stories; to impacting the larger children's book industry by creating a niche back in 1975, and growing the space and industry consciousness to value the contributions of first voice literature. (Check out the website to learn more about first voice.)
Children's Book Press has suffered a number of back to back blows these past 3 years, and the timing is ripe. Any help you can provide will be of great and deep benefit to the organization. Please consider some of the ways you may be able to help:
1) Go to their website: www.childrensbookpress.org and buy some books! They don't offer deep discounts like Amazon would, but by cutting out all the middlemen, you will ensure that all your dollars go directly to CBP. (Let me know if you'd like any book recommendations - I love to talk books.)
2) Donate via Facebook Causes, or the CBP website. Every dollar counts -- Really.
3) Learn more, and spread the word about Children's Book Press. Visit the website and find out more about the organization. It is a great resource to the community, to parents, teachers, and care givers. Keep CBP in your brain space, and share information with folks when the opportunity arises. The more people know about Children's Book Press, the larger its support network will become.
I'm turning 30 this year. Yikes, a mile stone indeed! The best blessing I can imagine on my birthday would be to know that I helped spread the word and supported Children's Book Press beyond the individual me. Your thoughts and effort will contribute great momentum to this wish; you will make it real.
Thank you even for reading this far along. I know that even in just reading this note, you have already helped. I appreciate your generosity of spirit, word, and action.
Warmest regards,
J9Macbeth
