Filipino-American Children’s Book to Be Celebrated
Lakas and the Makibaka Hotel Book Party
Join Children’s Book Press and the Manilatown Heritage Foundation as they celebrate the release of Lakas and the Makibaka Hotel—a book that honors the strength and resilience of the Filipino American community, and one child’s power to make a difference. Meet San Francisco author Anthony Robles and East Bay illustrator Carl Angel, as they take readers on a new Lakas adventure. Drawing from memories of the I-Hotel struggle as well as the recent tenant triumph at the Trinity Plaza Apartments, Lakas and the Makibaka Hotel will inspire children and adults alike.
