Our books promote academic and cultural literacy
Teacher's Guides, activity kits, and more!
Since 2002, Children’s Book Press has proudly offered free Teacher’s Guides for many of our titles. Developed by classroom educators, our cross-curricular guides encourage literacy and critical thinking. Every Teacher’s Guide contains four sections:
What’s It All About? A description of the book, thematic units of study, and author and artist biographies.
Reading Activities Reading comprehension and critical thinking activities about the book’s themes.
Cross Curricular Activities Making connections between the book and Language Arts, Social Studies, Visual Art, Math, and Science. These activities correspond to California state standards, which are easily adaptable to the standards of other states.
Resources Books, websites, and other resources related to the book’s themes.
